Liz Slade is an educational consultant, teacher-trainer, mindfulness teacher, and nature meditation guide. Liz was a pioneer in the mindfulness in education movement and a classroom teacher for over 30 years. She has a deep belief that when we pause to nourish our own hearts, we are better able to care for each other, build inclusive communities, and protect our planet.
Fiddleheads Cooking Studio offers kids cooking classes within a fun and educational environment that promotes food exploration, expands the taste buds, and teaches kids where food comes from while leveraging seasonal ingredients.

This experience, taught by Fiddleheads Cooking Studio, invites children to explore food, nature, and their senses in a fun, hands-on way. Set on the farm, kids will taste, touch, smell, see, and even listen to seasonal ingredients while creating simple, healthy snacks.
Through playful cooking, sensory games, and tasting adventures, children develop curiosity, confidence with food, and a joyful connection to nature.

We will experiment with seeds and roots, build with sticks, stems, rocks and blocks, and exercise our imagination. We always end with gratitude for forest friends and a cup of warm tea. Dress for the weather and bring a snack. Ages 18 mo. – 4 years

If you like to play outdoors in winter, let’s gather together to build with sticks and stems. We will learn about habitat, winter shelters and everything the season offers. For ages 18 to 42 months, with a caregiver. $5.

Urban Naturalist Bruce Rosenberg will lead a walking tour that will focus on the history and highlights of the Lasdon Public Gardens. Stops will include examining the William and Mildred Lasdon Memorial Garden, the magnolia trees, lilacs, conifers and azalea garden in addition to learning about the history of the Lasdon Main House.
