Evolution. 250 Years of Military Gear

The Westchester County Veterans Museum offers visitors an immersive look at how military equipment, uniforms, and battlefield technology have transformed throughout American history. Spanning from the Revolutionary War to present-day service, the exhibit showcases authentic and replica artifacts that illustrate the evolution of protection, communication, mobility, and the everyday experience of the American soldier.

Designed with a clean, modern approach, the exhibit combines historical storytelling with interactive features that bring the collection to life. Visitors can listen to audio descriptions of select artifacts through push-button stations, explore hands-on touchscreen activities that reinforce what they learn throughout the exhibit, and use reveal buttons to compare original uniforms and see how military attire changed over the decades.

Come see the Tarrytown Lighthouse in Sleepy Hollow! Join staff at the open house for a look inside the lighthouse and to learn about what life was like for the keepers. Drop-in, self-led program. Groups of 8 or more must pre-register.

The Tarrytown Lighthouse in Sleepy Hollow is located at Kingsland Point Park off Palmer Avenue. Park at Kingsland Point Park. The lighthouse is accessed by a 10 minute stroll south along the Riverwalk path. The five story structure includes four narrow stairways. Note that there are no restrooms in the lighthouse; restrooms are available at Kingsland Point Park.
