A community-led movement to research the important Revolutionary War Battle of Ridgefield, Conn of April 1777 led to many new insights via innovative approaches and technologies.
Ages 13 and up can join our education staff on a historical tour of the mansion. Meet promptly at 11 by the grape arbor behind the mansion. This tour is for only individuals and small families; not stroller or wheelchair accessible. Registration is required, space is limited.

Join Village Historian Marc Cheshire and Croton Point Park staff to learn about the history and environment of the Park. Meet at entrance to RV Park. Free; no registration required; ages 5+; wear sturdy, warm shoes.
Every summer from 1926 until 1964, the Croton Point Park Association took up residence in their bungalow colony at Croton Point Park. They had a baseball team, a community center, weekly dances, a flourishing newspaper – until they were evicted. We wonder how this group lived, what life was like, and what happened after their houses were torn down. A lecture with slides and archival media taking place in the Nature Center
After being inducted into the Civil War Army, children will bake Maple Sugar Cookies, hand-sew a soldiers’ housewife (something every soldier needed!), make a period craft, play with Civil War toys and learn about being a soldier with a hands-on experience in the Veterans Museum. 6 children max. Ages 6 years old and up.
