Join us for a morning of good old-fashioned farm work as we bring in this season’s garlic harvest! This is a family-friendly event, and we’d love to see neighbors of all ages out in the field. Kids are welcome to dig in alongside the grown-ups, and there’s something satisfying about pulling garlic from the earth that everyone can appreciate, no farming experience required. This is as much about community as it is about garlic. Come meet your neighbors, swap stories with fellow growers, and get a firsthand look at where your food comes from. We’ll work side by side, take breaks together, and wrap up with a sense of accomplishment (and probably some dirt under our fingernails).
This year, we’ve broken things down into a few specific roles so you can pick what sounds best for you (or try something new):
Garlic Pullers – hands-on work pulling bulbs from freshly loosened soil Garlic Clean-Up – shaking off soil and trimming leaves to prep bulbs for curing Garlic Storage – laying out bulbs on curing tables in the barn Garlic Cheerleaders – new this year! Come enjoy the farm, support fellow volunteers, and soak in the atmosphere – no work required. What to wear: Dress for outdoor farm work: closed-toe shoes or boots you don’t mind getting muddy, long pants, and a hat and sunscreen for sun protection. Bring work gloves if you have them (we’ll have some extras, but supplies are limited). And yes, you will get your hands dirty: that’s the whole point! Bring water, sunscreen, and a positive attitude. We can’t wait to see you there!
