Native American Stone Structures of the Lower Hudson Valley

Learn about the various stone structures found on the farm and in your backyard! After, take an optional hike to go see some examples. Rob Buchanan has spent years identifying indigenous stone structures in the woods of the Lower Hudson Valley. In his presentation, Rob will show and discuss examples of these distinctive stone structures. The presentation will feature structures located in the woods of Hilltop Hanover Farm and discuss the threats facing stone structures and efforts to preserve them. After the presentation, Rob will lead an optional hike to visit some of the stone structures along the farm’s trails. Please note that the presentation is approximately 1 hour in length and the optional hike is between 1.5-2 hours.
Rob Buchanan is an independent researcher who has been a member of the New England Antiquities Association (NEARA) for over twenty years and currently serves as the Treasurer. Rob has led NEARA conferences and local field trips and has given presentations at local museums and community groups. Rob has written articles for the NEARA Transit newsletter and the Rock Piles blog and regularly contributes to many community groups that focus on the Native American Stone Structures of the Northeast.
