SUMMARY:Croton Point Park's Forgotten Community: The Bungalow Colony
DESCRIPTION:Every summer from 1926 until 1964\, the Croton Point Park Association took up residence in their bungalow colony at Croton Point Park. They had a baseball team\, a community center\, weekly dances\, a flourishing newspaper. We will look into how this group lived\, what life was like\, and what happened after their houses were torn down. DESCRIPTION:Park staff and Village of Croton Historian Marc Cheshire will lead a special “ghosts & pirates” hike to explore Croton Point’s spooky history— particularly the legends about Money Island\, the place where Captain Kidd was said to have buried treasure. The hike will last roughly 1.5 to 2 hours. Meet at the gate to the RV park\, where parking is available. Ages 6 and up welcome – wear sturdy shoes\, and bring water.
