SUMMARY:Native Seed: Collecting & Harvesting
DESCRIPTION:Join us in this hands-on workshop where you will learn how to sustainably collect seeds from native plants\, both in the wild and within our Seed Increase Plots! Participants will learn to properly identify species\, examine plant populations\, determine whether a population is suitable for collection\, check seed for ripeness\, perform a cut test\, and fill out a data sheet to record important information for future collections. \nPre-registration is required for this workshop. All techniques are researched by scientists and implemented by the Bureau of Land Management’s National Seed Strategy. \nRegister Now

Our native plant nursery specializes in seed-propagated\, local ecotype species\, native to our region. \nWhy Plant Native Plants? \nHighly\, biodiverse ecosystems are more resilient and adaptable; they improve the soil\, prevent erosion\, protect against flooding\, lower temperatures at the ground\, and clean the air. Preserving and expanding areas where native plants are grown is a powerful way to combat environmental threats\, while also supporting animal and insect populations that are essential to a healthy ecosystem.
